• A Centre for the Expressive Arts

  The world is stressful place to live and work today. Many unhealthy emotions can build up in us contributing to stress, illness and depression. The centre for expressive arts is a place where one can vent and express oneself and release these emotions. It is a place of creative expression. The centre is a cluster of buildings scattered around the Regents Canal, North London. It is very much so a landscaoed inside and outside environment, with both indoor(private) and outdoor (public) facilities. The Think Box is the library. Sitting closest to the city it retains the order and strucured appearance of conformity. The library provides a learning and teaching environment for healing, performance art, and othe artistic media. A guiding path connects all stages of the buildings with planters following the seasons of each area. The Music Box, clad in rubber, moves furhter away from the city and begins to loosen in its structure. Here individual music rooms are provided for rehearsal, and there is also an outdoor sunken acoustic space for small recitals. There is also a mini outdoor amphitheatre built into the natural slope of the bank for summer bands, concerts, and plays. In the final stage the theatre and the dance studio have broken from the rigid structure of the city and facilties are scattered as confetti on the landscape
