• Recording Studios, Wroclaw

  2nd year diploma project. The design features both a wider urban plan for an area of Wroclaw, as well as a detailed design of a music rehearsal and recording complex. the differing characters of rehearsal and recording music (as opposed to a performance) were investigated. a more urban, demonstrative building was sought to house recording studios, traditionally a more introverted type of architecture. a semi-translucent glass screen encloses the various materially characterful and specific spaces of a recording and rehearsal complex. while the studios remain mostly private, a rehearsal hall for wroclaw’s philharmonic orchestra is faced by various ‘listening galleries’ where members of the public can listen in on the rehearsal, while only gaining oblique views of the performers.

• Free City Oxford

  The project aims to address the problems caused by a severe housing shortage in Oxford and the country as a whole, proposing a bottom-up housing initiative where dweller control drives the process in which both the housing procedures and the dwelling environments produced act as vehicles for personal fulfillment and stimulate real social and economic development. Rather than a master-planned, ready-made solution it proposes a strategy of gradual growth for the self-organised settlement aimed to be an extension of the city’s existing urban fabric and society.

  In the colourful and vibrant quarter of London; Aldgate East, a new centre of learning has been conceived by the architect. It appears brutalist in style and creation, however the center will spark a new style of learning, culminating in a successful exercise whereby impoverished participants will become successfully socially integrated with well to do citizens which currently reside in the City of London earning far greater salaries for the first time in history. Society will slowly change for the better.

• A Centre for the Expressive Arts

  The world is stressful place to live and work today. Many unhealthy emotions can build up in us contributing to stress, illness and depression. The centre for expressive arts is a place where one can vent and express oneself and release these emotions. It is a place of creative expression. The centre is a cluster of buildings scattered around the Regents Canal, North London. It is very much so a landscaoed inside and outside environment, with both indoor(private) and outdoor (public) facilities. The Think Box is the library. Sitting closest to the city it retains the order and strucured appearance of conformity. The library provides a learning and teaching environment for healing, performance art, and othe artistic media. A guiding path connects all stages of the buildings with planters following the seasons of each area. The Music Box, clad in rubber, moves furhter away from the city and begins to loosen in its structure. Here individual music rooms are provided for rehearsal, and there is also an outdoor sunken acoustic space for small recitals. There is also a mini outdoor amphitheatre built into the natural slope of the bank for summer bands, concerts, and plays. In the final stage the theatre and the dance studio have broken from the rigid structure of the city and facilties are scattered as confetti on the landscape
